Daniel lit the candle and watched the flame flicker.

He remembered his parents. They'd loved him, but not quite as much as they loved their work.

He remembered Sha're. She loved him, but not as much as he loved her.

He remembered Jack. He loved him, but that never stopped him from risking his life through the 'Gate.

He remembered Teal'c. He loved him, but he needed to be where he belonged.

He remembered Sam. She loved him. And he loved her. She had still died.

He sat there watching the candle. When it finally faded, he was alone. Remembering.
